ABOUT US

Outpost Treated Timber is a company specialising in the treatment and supply of quality CCA treated Gum Poles, droppers and laths. We are ACT certified, and all products carry the ACT quality stamp. ACT, like SABS subscribe to the very strict South African National Standard (SANS). Our compliance with this standard ensures our product is of the highest quality.

CCA is a waterborne wood preservative, impregnated into timber through pressurization. It has been used in this application for over 70 years. The active ingredients in CCA are Copper, Chromium and Arsenic. The Copper acts as a fungicide, together with the Arsenic, and the Chromium is essentially an oxidising agent, ensuring that the binding of the mix to the timber cells.

Correctly treated CCA timber will offer a lifespan of an excess of 20 years. It is an odourless product, that is very easy to handle. Opposed to Creosote, it does not leach into and contaminate soils, and has absolutely no residual odour or property making it difficult or dangerous to handle. With the correct paint, all products can be painted.
